AHK Portugal checks every new public tender against its members, every Monday

AHK Portugal decided its members should hear about the public tenders that fit them, every week. Portugal publishes around 440 new ones a week, and the Chamber has about 1,000 members and a small team. Since September 2026 a weekly workflow on AUGMTD, the tender radar, has the reading done by 08:00 on Monday, and staff choose who hears about what.

    Monday, 08:00, Lisbon.

Before the team has opened its inbox, this week's new public tenders have been read. The report is waiting: each tender that could suit a member, the members it could suit, a short reason for each, and the link to the official notice.

The first job of the week used to be reading, when there was time. Now it is deciding who hears about what.

New tender notices pile up from Tuesday to Sunday, about 440 a week. On Monday at 08:00 the radar reads them, then staff review, then members are contacted.
The week, as the Chamber sees it now.

Why the Chamber took this on.

Companies join a bilateral chamber to do business in the other country. Public tenders are part of that business, and every one of them is published. The hard part is the reading.

The Chamber chose to stop treating it as a job for spare time and to run it every week instead.

    1. 1Reading the notices
      Before

    What staff open on Monday.

The radar reads the new notices on Portugal's public procurement portal and sets aside what is too small or out of scope. It compares each remaining tender with the member companies: what they do, what they have delivered, where they work.

Staff get one report by email. Each tender comes with the members it could suit, a short reason for each, and the link to the official notice, so anyone can check the source in one click.

A simplified example. Member names are placeholders.

Staff kept six of eight, and added three.

Nothing goes to a member on its own. In one reviewed week, the radar proposed eight matches. Staff kept six, dropped two, and added three members of their own.

That is how the work is meant to split. The radar reads every notice. The staff know which member is already stretched, which one just lost a bid, and which one would never go after a public contract. Their corrections shape the criteria for the weeks that follow.

    The radar suggested 8

    What runs every week

    • Every new public tender read, every Monday morning
    • One report with the matching members, a reason for each, and the official link
    • Staff review before any member is contacted
    • Started as a pilot in September 2026, now part of the Chamber's subscription

    What comes next

    • Time saved: we will publish an estimate once we have agreed the before and after with the Chamber

Could your chamber do the same?

If your members want business in another market, probably. The radar needs three things: a public procurement portal, your member directory, and someone on your team who knows the members.

We start with one week of real tenders matched to your own member list. You judge the matches yourself before deciding anything else. An association could run the same check on funding calls instead of tenders.

From AHK Portugal's weekly runs since September 2026. The Chamber also runs a weekly leadership briefing on AUGMTD: read that story.
